Christine Jones

Christine Jones instructs the following:
  • mUvStretch Series | Hamstring Flexibility
  • This class will begin with a session of focused attention meditation, aka breath awareness. Followed by a short warm-up sequence, sun salutations, a dynamic sequence along with core abdominal work and back strengtheners. From there, we will move to active stretches that stretch the hamstrings and outer hip.

The hamstring consists of three muscles that run along the back of the thigh. They mobilize both the hip and knee and also work to stabilize the pelvis. These muscles are utilized often and can be a tricky muscle group to condition. They have a capacity for sustained work but are prone to shorten due to overuse, underuse, force and trauma. By design they can become hyperactive.

When this happens they are resistant to lengthening and your mobility is limited. They can also become elongated and weak. When they are involved in mobility their job is to contract and then relax. If they have become elongated and weak they won’t contract as well. This leaves you prone to pain and injury. Your hamstrings need to be highly responsive.

Meaning they need to be able to lengthen, shorten and/or stabilize at the drop of a hat. This workshop is designed to create eccentric strength along with maximum length in your
    hamstrings.

  • mUvStretch Series | Inner Hip & Middle Splits
  • This class will begin with a session of focused attention meditation, aka breath awareness. Followed by a short warm-up sequence, sun salutations, a dynamic sequence along with core abdominal work and back strengtheners. From there, we will move to active stretches that
prepare you for the middle splits, Upavistha Konasana.

This posture along with the preparatory postures stretch and release tension in the adductors (inner hip), hamstrings, outer hip and lateral rotators. This greatly improves hip mobility and flexibility, decreases back pain and allows for more range of motion throughout the body.
Whether or not you find yourself in the fullest expression of middle splits doesn’t really matter you will still benefit from the process of moving towards Upavistha Konasana.

  • This class will begin with a session of focused attention meditation, aka breath awareness. Followed by a short warm-up sequence, sun salutations, a dynamic sequence along with core abdominal work and back strengtheners. From there, we will move to active stretches that
prepare you for Dancer Pose, Natarajasana.

Full Dancer Pose is a combination of spinal extension, hip extension, deep shoulder flexion and scapular mobility. To successfully achieve this pose it is essential that you spend a good amount of time releasing tension and tightness in the hip flexors, shoulders, scapular retractors
and downward rotators, along with the front and side body. This class is intended to assist you in working towards the fullest expression of Dancer Pose, Natarajasana, available in your body.
